Come and experience the wonderful Ionian and find out why customers return time and time again. With plentiful islands all with easy reach of each other, a sailing holiday aboard a fully crewed 52' yacht really is the ultimate way to see all the Ionian has to offer. You can relax knowing that your skipper and hostess have planned all the details for you - they take care of the sailing, plan the route to ensure you visit the 'must sees' of the Ionian and provide you with a delicious breakfast and light lunch onboard so that you are free to swim, sunbathe, explore, snorkel, make new friends or relax with a good book. A maximum of 8 guests are onboard the Sun Odyssey 52.2 which has 4 double guest bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. If you are looking for a memorable Greek sailing holiday then jump onboard, meet other like-minded sailing enthusiasts and enjoy a week of sun, sea and scenery.

Booking by the cabin on our share a sail program means you enjoy the sailing experience at a fraction of the cost of a crewed yacht. With two routes to choose from you can decide to explore the southern Ionian including Kefalonia and Meganisi or to head north to Corfu and the outlying islands of the northern Ionian. Each day you will be exploring a new area, enjoying plenty of swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing along the way. Each day a new island awaits for you to explore. After a day on the water, take a walk and capture some incredible views, relax with a drink in a local bar or sample some of the traditional Greek dishes in a local taverna.

Breakfast and light lunch are included, as well as water, coffee and tea. Meals onboard are usually enjoyed in the spacious cockpit whilst anchored in an idyllic bay. Evening meals will be taken ashore at a local restaurant - there are plenty to choose from!

    Corfu Route

    2020 dates: 31 May | 14, 28 Jun | 12, 26 Jul | 9, 23 Aug | 6, 20 Sep | 4 Oct

DAY 1 : Preveza Town Marina

Sunday is arrivals day so after your flight to Preveza, take a short 15 minute transfer to the town marina and settle in onboard. There is a restaurant, mini-market, cafe and bar within the marina and many alternative restaurants within walking distance.

DAY 2 : Preveza to Gaios, Paxos

A good sail north brings us to Gaios, the main port on Paxos. At only 7 miles by 3 miles, Paxos is a small island brimming with beauty and fantastic beaches. Gaios retains its charm with Venetian architecture and narrow streets.

DAY 3 : Paxos to Corfu Town

After a day of sailing, swimming and relaxing we arrive at Corfu and the oldest harbour on the island. The setting for tonight is impressive with views of the castle walls looming above us. Just a few minutes walk from Mandraki harbour you will find Corfu Old Town, a charming and romantic town which you will love to explore.

DAY 4 : Corfu Town to Sivota Mourtos

A shorter sail today and weather permitting we visit the impressive cave close to the harbour for a swim in crystal clear waters. This is a lively town with many restaurants and bars to choose from.

DAY 5 : Sivota Mourtos to Lakka, Paxos

A relaxed day of sailing and plenty of opportunities to swim and snorkel. Lakka is a beautiful horse shoe shaped bay surrounded by hills covered in olive and cypress trees. Since the bay is nice and sheltered, we usually spend a peaceful night anchored in the bay rather than moored in the harbour. Enjoy a sundowner with new friends under the stars and nod off to the gentle rocking of the boat.

DAY 6 : Paxos to Parga

Time for a stop on the mainland. Parga is a beautiful, historic town which is popular with tourists - and for good reason! Idyllic beaches and coves surround the town, whilst it also boasts a castle and labyrinth style narrow streets that you just need to get lost in!

DAY 7 : Parga to Preveza

A final day of sailing and swimming and then we head back to the base late afternoon. We make the most of our final night with a meal at our favourite taverna.

All routes are subject to change and dependent on weather conditions.

    2020 dates: 7, 21 Jun | 5, 19 Jul | 2, 16, 30 Aug | 13, 27 Sep | 11 Oct

DAY 1 : Preveza Town Marina

Sunday is arrivals day so after your flight to Preveza, take a short 15 minute transfer to the town marina and settle in onboard. There is a restaurant, mini-market, cafe and bar within the marina and many alternative restaurants within walking distance.

DAY 2 : Preveza to Spartochori, Meganisi

A picturesque village on the island of Meganisi. From the harbour, take a walk up the many steps to the village itself and be rewarded with fantastic views. As you wander around here you will feel as though you have gone back in time. The locals enjoy a much slower and peaceful way of life which you will find starts to rub off on you.

DAY 3 : Spartochori to Fiskardo, Kefalonia

After a day of sailing, swimming and relaxing we arrive at the chic little town of Fiskardo on the north of Kefalonia. Venetian style houses all painted in pastel colours surround the harbour and on the water's edge you will find some excellent Greek tavernas.

DAY 4 : Fiskardo to Agios Nikolaos, Zakynthos

A good sail takes us from the north of Kefalonia to the north of Zakynthos. Agios Nikolaos is the perfect spot to catch one of the regular boats around to 'Shipwreck Beach', one of the most photographed places in Greece.

DAY 5 : Agios Nikolaos to Vathi, Ithaca

Today we sail north to the island of Ithaca and the picturesque village of Vathi. The earthquakes in 1953 destroyed almost all of the Venetian buildings here but thankfully almost all of them were lovingly restored by the residents. A deep and scenic bay with a whole lot of Ionian charm. Wander the little streets of the town to find some hidden bars and restaurants.

DAY 6 : Vathi to Sivota, Lefkas

A relaxed sail brings us to the natural harbour of Sivota. A popular spot on Lefkas island for its sheltered bay, white sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery. The town livens up in the evening and has a great atmosphere.

DAY 7 : Sivota to Preveza

A final day of sailing, swimming and a lunch stop in Lefkas Town and then we head back to the base late afternoon. We make the most of our final night with a meal at our favourite taverna.

Sailing Qualifications

To skipper a bareboat charter or flotilla yacht, you need to hold a practical sailing certificate equivalent to RYA Day Skipper Practical qualification or RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC). For charters in Greece, you must now have the ICC certificate. You must also be assisted by at least one competent crew member over the age of 18.

For charters in Croatia, Malta and the Canaries, at least one member of the crew or the skipper will also need a VHF licence.

RYA qualifications can be obtained by RYA sailing schools in the UK or alternatively choose from one of our overseas centres in Gibraltar, Greece or Turkey.

For Caribbean and Tropical charters, formal qualifications are not compulsory, however, you should be Day Skipper standard and be assisted by at least one competent crew. A brief sailing resume should be provided to outline your experience.

If you don't hold the relevant qualifications then why not add a skipper?
