Sailing holidays in the Kornati

Sailing conditions

Croatia has ideal conditions for a sailing holiday with reliable afternoon winds. During the summer months there are steady afternoon breezes from the north-west averaging Force 2–5 dying down at night. Summer temperatures average 26-30ºC.

Sailing area

Start your sailing holiday from Zadar or Biograd, two marinas on the mainland right opposite the beautiful Kornati archipelago. The Kornati Islands are now designated as a National Park and the many islands and islets offer idyllic anchorages with clear water for swimming. See our suggested sailing itinerary below.

The marinas in Croatia offer some of the best facilities in the Mediterranean and there are laid moorings on most quays and mooring buoys in many locations. There are however harbour and mooring charges - budget for an average £2/foot/night.

Charter yachts

From one of the largest fleets of bareboat charter yachts in the Mediterranean, these charter yachts are based at Biograd and Zadar, as well as other marinas along the Croatia coast. Not all yacht models are available in every base in Croatia.

Yacht charters in Croatia start and finish on Saturdays.

We can also offer bareboat charter yachts from several other charter fleets we work closely with in Biograd and Zadar so we are sure to have the perfect charter yacht for your next sailing holiday in Croatia.

Travel arrangements

easyJet have flights from Gatwick,Bristol and Stansted to Split on Saturdays. Jet2 have flights from Manchester.Transfer time to Zadar 75 minutes, Biograd 60 minutes.

"We had a fantastic time with Peter at Rock Sailing in Gibraltar. Many thanks for organising the course for us. Peter was an excellent teacher and looked after us with great food on board too! While storms raged in the Straights for our first two days, we learnt a great deal about all aspects of yacht safety in the relatively calm Marina. By Wednesday our crew of 4 were eager to set sail and that afternoon we were on our way to Ceuta in a force 6-7, making good headway at an average 11knots. What a privilege! The next three days were filled with great sailing, dolphins, and good company. We will certainly recommend you and Rock Sailing in the future and we are very much looking forward to our flotilla holiday with you in May."
