Sailing in Malta
Ideal for a relaxed sailing holiday, you can sail round Malta and visit St Julian's Harbour, St Paul's island and the picture-perfect fishing harbour of Marsaxlokk on the south of the island. Sail to the islands of Gozo, Comino and Cominotto with their pristine beaches and caves. Gozo is the second biggest island full of character and charm. Use the marina at the picturesque harbour of Mgarr or anchor off one of the beaches. Quiet compared to Malta, Gozo definitely is worth a visit ashore. Comino is excellent for swimming in the famous Blue Lagoon which provides excellent shelter for anchoring at night. From here you can sail round the Maltese Islands returning for an evening dip in the pristine waters of the lagoon.
An itinerary around the Maltese islands is easy sailing but most nights you will on anchor in protected bays. A trip to Sicily includes a 60nm open passage so best for experienced skippers only.
Lovers of history will want to explore Valetta and Birgu, with its maritime museum, Inquisitor's Palace, walled town and narrow streets.
