"We spent a week in the company of Robert the skipper and Veronica the hostess on board Icarus sailing the north Ionian islands. Their hospitality was second to none, Robert's knowledge of the islands is amazing and Veronica laid on wonderful food and took care of our every need. The yacht is immaculate and very comfortable. The week went far too quick. We visited some amazing places and ate at some great restaurants. It was our perfect holiday experiencing something different every day. We hope to return again and would highly recommend." K.S. 2018.

    Robert and Veronica

Your Scottish Skipper, Robert, is a fully qualified and commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster and has been sailing since he was 14. In 2007 he won the RYA Yachtmaster of the Year award presented by HRH Princess Anne. His 10 years experience of sailing and chartering in Greece allows him to show you some of the most beautiful places around the Ionian, sailing you safely and comfortably from one lovely place to the next - an unforgettable experience.

Your Hostess, Veronica, will of course ensure you have a wonderful, relaxing holiday aboard the yacht, preparing your meals, serving you drinks and doing the ‘housework’ so you can enjoy the beautiful settings and sights around the Islands. Veronica is also your crew member, assisting Robert with the sailing so that you can completely relax if you wish. Our ultimate aim is to ensure you have a wonderful and memorable experience.

Your charter will start from Gouvia Marina on Corfu which is 15-20 mins from Corfu Airport. Gouvia Marina has a selection of bars and restaurants as well as a large swimming pool. On a one week charter you will be sailing around the Greek Ionian Islands. Starting off in Corfu, you will visit the Greek mainland as well as the stunning Paxos Islands, offering some of the most scenic and idyllic sailing in the world. You will experience everything the Ionian has to offer; sailing and swimming in crystal-clear waters, spectacular views, anchoring in secluded bays, lunch al-fresco in the shaded cockpit, sunbathing and relaxing onboard.

    A typical day aboard "Icarus"

Your day will start with breakfast served by your hostess in the cockpit before setting off for your next destination. For those who like to be more hands on, Robert is more than happy for you to get involved in the sailing, taking the helm and hoisting the sails, but if you want to completely relax, it’s the perfect sailing trip for you. We will stop at some of the beautiful bays where you can swim or snorkel or you may wish to stay aboard the yacht, relax and enjoy the scenery and sunshine. At the end of each day after the yacht is moored up, either in a traditional harbour or at anchor, you can enjoy drinks in the cockpit and watch the world go by, allowing you to take in the ambiance before heading out to enjoy the atmosphere of the Greek tavernas and restaurants.

Sailing Qualifications

To skipper a bareboat charter or flotilla yacht, you need to hold a practical sailing certificate equivalent to RYA Day Skipper Practical qualification or RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC). You must also be assisted by at least one competent crew member over the age of 18.

For charters in Croatia, Malta and the Canaries, at least one member of the crew or the skipper will also need a VHF licence.

RYA qualifications can be obtained by RYA sailing schools in the UK or alternatively choose from one of our overseas centres in Gibraltar, Greece or Turkey.

For Caribbean and Tropical charters, formal qualifications are not compulsory, however, you should be Day Skipper standard and be assisted by at least one competent crew. A brief sailing resume should be provided to outline your experience.

If you don't hold the relevant qualifications then why not add a skipper?
