Learn to sail or improve your skills with the Göcek Sea School, an RYA Recognised Training centre in Göcek, established in 1996. They run RYA practical courses leading to Competent Crew for the complete beginner and Day Skipper courses which includes boat handling seamanship and navigation.

Charter your own yacht with an instructor and have exclusive use of the yacht for a party of up to 5 people. Each year we receive a lot of bookings from families as well as groups of friends who want a sail training yacht to themselves to learn to sail or maybe improve their sailing skills together. The training yacht is a Dufour 36 with 3 cabins and 1 head. Should you like a larger yacht then this is possible - please contact us for the rates.

The school is based in Göcek, a beautiful village only 25 minutes from Dalaman Airport. We can arrange transfers from the airport to where your yacht will be moored. All students sleep on board the boat during the week long course which starts and finishes on Saturday. During the week there will be ample opportunity for swimming and snorkelling. Evening meals are eaten ashore at restaurants in the beautiful bays or pretty towns where the yachts anchor or moor each evening.

We never teach more than 5 pupils to 1 instructor, under RYA recommendations. All courses follow the RYA syllabus but are not suitable for children under 12. RYA course notes and logbooks can be purchased on arrival at a cost of approximately £20. Certificates are awarded at the end of the week to those pupils who meet all the requirements of the courses.

"The cleanliness and presentation of the boat at the start was the best I have ever experienced. The lead boat crew, John and Elsa, were superb in every way. Transfers were seamless. The booking process and pre-trip service from your head office was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."

Sailing Qualifications

To skipper a bareboat charter or flotilla yacht, you need to hold a practical sailing certificate equivalent to RYA Day Skipper Practical qualification or RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC). You must also be assisted by at least one competent crew member over the age of 18.

For charters in Croatia, Malta and the Canaries, at least one member of the crew or the skipper will also need a VHF licence.

RYA qualifications can be obtained by RYA sailing schools in the UK or alternatively choose from one of our overseas centres in Gibraltar, Greece or Turkey.

For Caribbean and Tropical charters, formal qualifications are not compulsory, however, you should be Day Skipper standard and be assisted by at least one competent crew. A brief sailing resume should be provided to outline your experience.

If you don't hold the relevant qualifications then why not add a skipper?
