The Saronic Gulf offers ideal conditions for a sailing holiday with reliable afternoon winds. The wind is generally from the South Force 3-5 dying down at night. The sailing area in the Saronic Gulf is protected from the meltemi wind which can blow in the Aegean in the summer. Summer temperatures reach 28-31ºC.

Sailing area

The Saronic Gulf is very popular yachting holiday destination as it offers so many interesting sailing itineraries. 

On a 1 week yacht charter holiday you can explore the Saronic islands of Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses. Anchor in unspoiled anchorages for lunch and moor up for the night in bustling fishing harbours.

On a 2-week sailing holiday you can sail further south via the Argolic Gulf to explore the Peloponnese coastline. Anchor in the huge bay at Port Heli. Visit the grand old harbour at Navplion and discover the unspoilt harbours at Astros and Leonidion. You can plot a course as far south as Monemvasia, a dramatic medieval fortress.

Travel arrangements

Athens is well served with direct flights from the UK. British Airways, Aegean Airlines & Olympic Airlines operate flights from Heathrow to Athens. easyJet operate flights from Gatwick. Transfer time to Athens Kalamaki Marina 1 hour.

With daily flights you can add on a few days for a city break in Athens before or after your yacht charter.
